A man from Chicago, identified as Curtis L. Crumb, Jr., has been cited for disorderly conduct, aggravated battery, and possession of adult-use cannabis – motor vehicle following an altercation at a gas station in Williamson County, Illinois.
The incident took place at the Road Ranger Truck Stop in Marion, where deputies from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a fight involving a firearm at approximately 9:55 p.m. on June 16.
Although the man suspected of displaying the gun had already left the scene, law enforcement officers were able to locate and pull over the vehicle described in the report on Interstate 57 near mile post 56. Crumb was apprehended, and a search of the vehicle was conducted, revealing the presence of marijuana but no firearm.
Crumb, Jr. was subsequently arrested and taken into custody at the Williamson County Jail for further questioning and processing.
Upon interviewing witnesses at the gas station, it was reported that an argument had broken out between two women and Crumb in the lobby area. The situation escalated, leading to Crumb allegedly revealing a gun before leaving the premises.
The victims recounted their experience, stating that Crumb had initiated a confrontation with one of them, which prompted an employee to intervene. However, Crumb returned to the scene with a firearm, causing further distress to the women.
Despite denying the possession of a gun during the altercation, Crumb admitted to engaging in a verbal dispute with the women at the gas station.
