The tragic incident took place in India when a 17-year-old boy took the extreme step after his sister married a man from a different caste, according to reports from Indian media outlets.
Local police revealed that the accused had been in contact with individuals who used social media sites to trade in illegal guns.
The 17-year-old teenager bought a 32 bore pistol through a social media platform with the intention of killing his sister and brother-in-law due to their inter-caste love marriage.
On the fateful day, the suspect arrived at his sister’s residence and fired shots, hitting his sister in the neck, and injuring his sister-in-law and mother-in-law.
The sister tragically passed away at the scene, while her sister-in-law and mother-in-law were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The suspect was produced in court and subsequently sent to a juvenile home in Madhuban.
Furthermore, the police also arrested the teenager’s mother, Amita, on charges of conspiring to commit the heinous crime.
Police officials are investigating how the teenager managed to procure the pistol through social media channels, and believe that the crime was planned as revenge for the love marriage.
Following their marriage, the couple had sought police protection, but the girl’s family assured them that they had no intentions of taking any action against the marriage.
