In a devastating incident last week in Brooklyn, a 48-year-old woman lost her life after a collision between a moped and a bicyclist resulted in a fatal head injury, according to police reports.
The tragic event took place on June 14, around 11 p.m., at the intersection of 7th Avenue and 68th Street. The bicyclist, traveling south, struck the handlebar of the moped carrying the victim, identified as Aihong Qu, and another individual. The impact caused both the operator and Qu to be thrown off the vehicle, with Qu hitting her head on the pavement.
Following the accident, emergency services rushed the 48-year-old victim to NYU Langone – Brooklyn Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Qu succumbed to her injuries on Monday, June 17.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident. The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
