Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A man has been apprehended for allegedly carrying out a series of armed robberies at knifepoint in various stores across Vancouver, Washington. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office announced that Vancouver Police officers responded to multiple armed robberies on Friday and successfully located and arrested the suspect, 56-year-old Vancouver resident Shawn Short.

Following the incidents, police and sheriff’s deputies identified a suspect matching the description of the robber, later confirmed to be Short, leaving the scene in a white Honda Pilot. This vehicle matched the description of a car previously linked to robberies in April and May.

Vancouver Police Department charged Short with two counts of second-degree robbery for the crimes that occurred on Friday. The Clark County Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the specific stores that were targeted in these incidents.

The following day, Short faced additional charges, including four counts of first-degree robbery and one count of second-degree assault for a series of crimes committed in April and May. Among these incidents were robberies at a Starbucks located inside a Safeway store, a Walgreens outlet, and a Target store.

The first robbery took place on April 8 at the Starbucks within Safeway at 13023 NE Highway 99. During this event, the perpetrator brandished a large knife and demanded money from the cash register before fleeing on foot. The suspect, described as a white male with blue eyes wearing a black surgical-style mask, escaped after employees complied with his demands.

The subsequent robbery occurred on April 9 at the Target store on Mill Plain Boulevard, where the same suspect was identified.

On April 11, two back-to-back robberies took place involving a suspect matching the previous description. The first incident occurred at 12:33 p.m. when the suspect robbed the Starbucks inside the Safeway at 13023 NE Highway 99. Subsequently, at 2:18 p.m., another robbery took place at Walgreens at 8511 NE 162nd Ave.

During the Starbucks robbery on April 11, an employee was knocked to the ground by the suspect while attempting to flee. The injured individual was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. Law enforcement responded with a heavy police presence, deploying K9 units and an unmanned aircraft system in search of the suspect.

Short is currently held at Clark County Jail, and the white Honda Pilot associated with the crimes has been seized by authorities under a search warrant. The investigation into these incidents continues.
