CICERO, Ill. (WLS) — Authorities in Cicero, Illinois, have taken three individuals into custody following a tragic incident at a local liquor store that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old man on Tuesday.

The victim tragically lost his life while trying to prevent two suspects from stealing a bottle of liquor at Portrillo Liquors located at 2126 S. Cicero Ave. The fatal shooting occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday as one of the suspects fired a single shot at the victim during the robbery, according to a Cicero spokesperson speaking to ABC7.
In the words of Norma Barito, a co-worker of the victim, “He never had issues with nobody. The sad part is he was just 23 years old… we’re in a world where there’s no humanity anymore.”

The victim has been identified as Sebastian Rodriguez by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office. His cause of death was reported as a gunshot wound to the head.
Authorities have assured the public that there is currently no threat to public safety in the area. However, details regarding the suspects involved in the incident have not been disclosed, and charges are pending.
