Authorities have confirmed the identities of two teenage girls who lost their lives in a devastating jet ski accident on Lake Marie in Antioch, Illinois. The victims have been identified as 16-year-old Sarina Vootkur from Lake Forest, California, and 13-year-old Elle Kim from Long Grove, Illinois, as reported by the Lake County Coroner’s Office.

An autopsy revealed that both girls succumbed to blunt force injuries sustained during the tragic collision that took place on Tuesday. The incident occurred when Vootkur was operating a Yamaha jet ski with Kim as her passenger on the picturesque lake, located approximately 40 miles northwest of Chicago near the Wisconsin border.

According to witness statements provided to the authorities, the jet ski was travelling at a high speed when it collided with a moving boat being navigated by a 55-year-old man from Antioch, Illinois. Despite the boat operator’s best efforts to avoid the collision, the impact was unavoidable.

The force of the crash rendered both teenage girls unconscious, despite the fact that they were wearing life vests at the time of the accident. Following the collision, the boat’s occupants managed to pull the girls out of the water and immediately contacted emergency services. Tragically, both Vootkur and Kim were pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.
