Based on reports from the Long Beach Police Department, the incident took place in the 2300 block of Locust Avenue around 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday. Police officers rushed to the scene to assist Long Beach Fire Department paramedics who were responding to a call about a woman in full cardiac arrest. Upon their arrival, it was discovered that the woman, identified as Myriam Zaragoza of Long Beach, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her upper body. Tragically, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
In response to the shooting, homicide detectives were dispatched to the location to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
