Second individual arrested for skipping out on $500 dinner bill

Authorities in Newnan, Georgia have apprehended a second suspect in connection with a shocking incident involving a mother allegedly instructing her 7-year-old daughter to steal a purse from a crowded restaurant and then leaving without paying a hefty bill.

NEWNAN, Ga. – Law enforcement officials have taken another individual into custody in relation to a case that garnered widespread attention after a FOX 5 viewer provided crucial information that led to the identification of Kenya Butler from Union City last March. Butler was implicated in allegedly encouraging her young daughter to pilfer a purse from a booth at the popular Juicy Crab eatery in Newnan.

At the time of the initial investigation, authorities were on the lookout for a male accomplice involved in the incident who had reportedly absconded without settling the group’s substantial $500 tab. Thanks to evidence left behind at the scene, this individual has now been positively identified and taken into custody.

According to the police, Keishawn Butler was traced through a cash card that he purportedly left behind at the restaurant, which bore his name. He has been formally charged with theft of services and is confirmed to be the sibling of Kenya Butler.

The Newnan Police Department has released a video capturing the sequence of events that investigators allege shows patrons of the Juicy Crab restaurant evading payment and even coaxing a minor to steal a purse from a nearby table before exiting the premises.

Surveillance footage obtained from the restaurant apparently depicts Kenya Butler directing her child towards an unattended booth, where the young girl is seen taking a purse and walking out with it. Kenya Butler has been formally charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor and theft by taking. Authorities have clarified that the daughter herself is not facing any charges.

The video evidence further shows a group consisting of five adults and eight children vacating the restaurant following the theft of the purse. Kenya Butler purportedly confessed that all members of the group were aware that they had no intention of settling the bill.
