A tragic incident unfolded in Pune’s Phursungi area as the lifeless body of 25-year-old Kaushalya Mukesh Chavan was discovered inside a water tanker on Thursday. The shocking discovery was made when water was being released from the tanker near the Phursungi power station.
According to reports, locals who were filling water from the tanker noticed that the outflow had stopped. Upon closer inspection, the tanker driver found that a piece of sari was obstructing the flow. Upon opening the tanker lid, the driver was horrified to find the body of a woman inside.
Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. Initial reports suggest that there were no visible injury marks on her body. The cause of death is expected to be revealed after the completion of the post-mortem examination.
Earlier that morning, the woman had visited a building where the tanker driver resided. The tanker in question was parked near the same building. It remains unclear whether the woman accidentally fell into the water tanker or if she deliberately jumped in.
The deceased woman was a resident of Dugad Chawl near JSPM College in Handewadi. She lived with her husband, who works as a flooring installer, and their two children. Originally hailing from Uttar Pradesh, the family had relocated to Pune just a month ago, as stated by police inspector Mansingh Patil.
Prior to her tragic demise, the woman had been reported missing a few days earlier. A missing person report had been filed at Kondhwa Police Station. Authorities suspect that the woman may have been battling mental health issues, as she had sought treatment from local doctors and a village priest.
