Accident – Death – Obituary News : A man from Youngstown has been identified by the New Castle police as the individual responsible for the fatal shooting of 39-year-old Omar Hakim in his vehicle on Moody Avenue. Andrew Howard, 32, is facing charges of criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy to commit homicide, and prohibited possession of a firearm in connection with the incident that took place on April 21. Howard is currently at large, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Following the shooting, Angelina Masi, 44, of East Moody Avenue was arrested by the police as an accomplice in the case. She is accused of driving the car in which the gunman was a passenger on the night of the incident. The police were alerted to the scene on Moody Avenue at Carlisle Street around 7:30 p.m. on April 21, where they discovered Hakim deceased and slumped over in the driver’s seat of a green Chevrolet Tahoe with gunshot wounds to the face.
Witnesses at the scene reported seeing a man in a red and black hoody and black pants approach Hakim’s vehicle and fire multiple shots into it before fleeing. Another witness mentioned a gray Jeep Grand Cherokee leaving the scene, followed by a green Nissan SUV pulling up behind it. The passenger from the Nissan reportedly fired shots after which both vehicles left the scene. The Nissan was registered to Angelina Carlucci, who was known to be Hakim’s girlfriend.
Additional evidence was obtained from a neighbour’s doorbell camera footage and security videos from businesses in the vicinity. One footage captured Masi driving south on Highland Avenue with a passenger wearing red. Information provided by the Youngstown police revealed that Masi and her son had picked up Howard from a gas station in Youngstown and transported him to New Castle for the shooting.
Detectives presented photo lineups to witnesses, with Howard being positively identified. Howard’s criminal record indicated previous convictions for felony offences, including burglary and domestic violence in 2018, making him ineligible to possess a firearm.
