A body discovered early on Saturday morning on Hazel Street is now the subject of a homicide investigation, as confirmed by the Pine Bluff Police Department.
Shortly after 6 a.m., law enforcement officers were called to the vicinity of 33rd Avenue and Hazel Street in response to a report of a body. Upon their arrival, they came across the lifeless body of a woman on the east side of Hazel Street. The woman, later identified as 50-year-old Zedella Samuels, appeared to have been fatally struck by an unidentified vehicle at some point during the previous night, according to police reports.
“There were evident tyre skid marks present on Hazel Street, both leading to and departing from the location of the deceased female,” a statement from the authorities read. “In addition, several bags and purses, as well as various cards and paperwork bearing different names, were found scattered around the victim.”
At the time of the discovery, the woman’s identity remained unknown. However, by Tuesday, family members had come forward to formally identify her.
As of now, no suspects have been named in connection with this case, with the investigation ongoing.
