(CBS DETROIT) – A tragic incident unfolded in Farmington Hills on Tuesday night as a 32-year-old motorcyclist lost his life in a crash, according to the local police department.

Authorities were alerted to the scene at the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Grand River Avenue at 10 p.m. following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a Ford Explorer.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the motorcyclist, a 32-year-old man from Redford Township, and immediately provided assistance until paramedics arrived on site.

Despite efforts to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The driver of the SUV, a 21-year-old man from Novi, remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement before being allowed to leave.

Authorities have ruled out alcohol and drugs as contributing factors to the crash. It was noted that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the incident.
