PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) – A Missouri man was arrested in Kentucky on Wednesday morning after failing to comply with the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry.
On April 12, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office conducted a welfare check on a male subject who had reportedly been staying in his car on the KOW. The man was identified as 54-year-old Ronald Sulik of Doe Run, Missouri.
According to the sheriff’s office, it was discovered that Sulik was on the Missouri sex offender registry. At that time, deputies explained to Sulik the requirement for registering in Kentucky, if he intended on staying. Sulik said he would be returning to Missouri.
In the following days, Sulik was seen by deputies in the same area, and Corporal Tyler Davis opened an investigation into the situation. After consulting with Probation and Parole, Corporal Davis discovered Sulik had still not registered in Kentucky.
As the investigation continued, evidence was obtained indicating Sulik did not return to Missouri and had been living in Kentucky. Based upon that investigation, an arrest warrant was sought for Sulik.
On Tuesday, June 19, at around 10:20 am, Sulik was located at a residence on County Line Road and arrested. He was taken to McCracken County Regional Jail and charged with failure to comply with the sex offender registry.
Failure to comply with the sex offender registry is a serious offence that can result in legal consequences. It is important for individuals on the registry to adhere to the laws and regulations of the states they reside in to avoid further issues.
