Accident – Death – Obituary News : Lucknow: A tragic incident shook the town of Balrampur as four young sisters, with the youngest being just seven years old, lost their lives in a devastating drowning accident in the Kunaon river. The heartbreaking episode unfolded on Tuesday evening when the girls, visiting their maternal grandmother’s home to celebrate Bakrid, decided to take a bath in the river.

Balrampur’s superintendent of police, Keshav Kumar, revealed that the girls accidentally slipped into the deep waters while bathing. Despite the quick response of locals who witnessed the incident and rushed to their aid, the girls could not be saved. It was a harrowing experience for everyone involved, and the bodies of the sisters were recovered late at night with the help of divers, police personnel, and local residents.

The young girls were identified as Reshma (13), Afsana (11), Guddi (9), and Lalli (7). Their parents, Raju and Reshma, were left in a state of shock and disbelief. Raju expressed his anguish, stating, “We are a humble family and had hoped that my daughters would enjoy the festive celebrations at their grandmother’s house. Unfortunately, it turned into a nightmare.”

Sub-divisional magistrate Avdhesh Kumar confirmed that the post-mortem examinations were currently underway. Meanwhile, Balrampur district magistrate Arvind Singh extended his heartfelt condolences to the grieving families. He assured them that they would receive the necessary relief assistance in accordance with established procedures. A dedicated team has been deployed to the site to compile a detailed report on the tragic incident.

In a similar vein, recent reports have highlighted other drowning incidents, including three individuals tragically drowning in the Kho river in Seohara, Bijnor district. The victims, two brothers and another individual from Mukarpuri village, lost their lives in a similar water-related mishap. Additionally, the mortal remains of three Indian students who drowned in the Volkhov River near Veliky Novgorod, Russia, were repatriated recently. The students were from Yaroslav-the-Wise Novgorod State University, and Indian missions in Russia facilitated the return of their bodies.

As the community mourns the loss of these young lives, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of water safety and vigilance, especially during festive occasions. The authorities are working diligently to provide support to the affected families and ensure that proper procedures are followed in the aftermath of such tragic incidents..
