Mother of 12-Year-Old Murder Victim Speaks Out

In a heartbreaking interview, Alexis Nungaray, the mother of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, who was tragically found dead in a creek in north Houston, has shared her grief and anguish over the loss of her daughter.

Describing Jocelyn as a “goofy” and independent young girl with a strong sense of right and wrong, Alexis recalled her daughter’s unique spirit and unwavering courage.

The devastated mother expressed disbelief and shock at the tragic turn of events, stating that it feels like a never-ending nightmare that she cannot wake up from.

The last time Alexis saw Jocelyn alive was on Sunday night before they went to bed, with plans to go to work together the next day. However, Jocelyn had snuck out of their apartment during the night, leaving her family unaware of her whereabouts.

The discovery of Jocelyn’s body in the creek early Monday morning sent shockwaves through the community, with the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences later confirming that she had died from strangulation.

Houston police have released surveillance images from a local convenience store where Jocelyn was last seen, identifying two individuals of interest in connection to the case.

Speaking out against the perpetrators, Alexis expressed her anger and desire for justice for her daughter, urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in solving the case.

As the investigation continues, Alexis remains hopeful that the truth will come to light and that those responsible for Jocelyn’s death will be held accountable.

The Nungaray family has set up a GoFundMe page to honour Jocelyn’s memory, with plans for a memorial service in the works.
