PIERRE, S.D. (Riverfront Broadcasting/KCCR Radio) – A 35-year-old man from Watertown has been charged in connection with a simple assault incident that occurred on Saturday night in Pierre, South Dakota.
The altercation, which took place in the vicinity of Missouri Avenue and Central Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m., involved a male victim who was loading a trailer while parked on the street.
According to Pierre Police Captain Dusty Pelle, the victim reported that a second individual, identified as Jeffery McGuire of Watertown, began letting air out of the tires of the parked vehicle.
McGuire allegedly expressed his displeasure at the vehicle obstructing the road, prompting the victim to confront him. In response, McGuire reportedly seized the victim’s phone as he attempted to call for assistance and threw it to the ground, causing damage to the device.
As a result of the incident, McGuire was arrested and taken into custody at the Hughes County Jail. Charges against him include Simple Assault-Intimidation, Intentional Damage to Property, Tampering with a Motor Vehicle, and Interference with Emergency Communications.
