A resident of Fort Myers, who has a history of 12 prior arrests, has been sentenced to three years and 10 months in prison for the possession of a firearm as a convicted felon. The State Attorney’s Office reported that on October 5, 2023, the Fort Myers police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. The front seat passenger, later identified as 33-year-old Jddarrian Irons, provided false information to the officers.
During a search of the vehicle, law enforcement discovered a loaded gun in a fanny pack located next to the front passenger seat and door. Prior to this, Irons was seen wearing the fanny pack at a nearby apartment complex, as stated in court documents. Irons, who has previous felony convictions, had recently been released from a seven-year prison sentence. He entered a guilty plea on February 28.
The illegal possession of firearms by convicted felons is a serious offence with severe consequences. Irons’ case serves as a reminder of the importance of strict enforcement of gun laws to ensure public safety.
