    SALISBURY, MD — In the early hours of this morning, Wicomico County Sheriff\’s deputies responded to a distressing situation at a residence in the 100 block of Cedar Way, Salisbury, where a woman was found with a severe knife wound to her forehead. Upon their arrival around 4 AM, deputies administered first aid before the victim was transported to Tidal Health for further medical attention.

    The incident escalated when the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence. In a coordinated effort, the Wicomico County Sheriff\’s Office, along with the Salisbury Police Department, Salisbury University Police Department, and the Maryland State Police K-9 unit, established a perimeter around the home to secure the area and protect nearby residents.

    After prolonged negotiations failed to resolve the standoff, the Sheriff\’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) decided to make a strategic entry. They first deployed a drone to locate the suspect within the house, confirming his presence in a bedroom.     WILDWOOD CREST, NJ — In the early hours of Sunday morning, a routine patrol led to the apprehension of a 24-year-old man from Haddon Township, Samuel Beatty, on a range of charges including driving while intoxicated and various weapons violations. The incident occurred around 3:30 AM at the intersection of Bayview and Preston Avenues.

    Cpl. William Gianakopoulos of the Wildwood Crest Police Department noticed a vehicle parked facing the wrong direction with its engine running and the driver asleep at the wheel. Upon inspection, the officer observed that the driver, later identified as Beatty, exhibited signs of impairment and was unresponsive with his foot on the gas pedal.

    Despite orders to exit the vehicle and perform sobriety tests, Beatty refused, leading to his arrest on suspicion of driving while intoxicated and obstructing justice. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered an assortment of illegal weapons including a .22 caliber revolver, a .177 caliber metal BB gun, a large capacity canister of OC spray, and several knives.

    Beatty faces serious charges such as unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and additional weapons-related offenses. He was taken to Cape May County Correctional Facility, following guidelines associated with the Criminal Justice Bail Reform.

  • Body of Man Found in Schuylkill River

    PHILADELPHIA, PA — Authorities in Philadelphia are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a man\’s body in the Schuylkill River. The incident was reported on the evening of June 17, 2024, at approximately 6:16 PM near the 2400 block of Walnut Street in the 9th District.

    The deceased individual, a 30-year-old Black male who remains unidentified and is known as \”John Doe,\” was found in the river and pronounced dead at the scene at 6:50 PM by Medic 35. The Philadelphia Police Department\’s Marine Unit responded to the location and secured the area for further investigation.

    The Criminal Detection Division (CDD) of the Philadelphia Police Department has taken charge of the case. At present, the specifics surrounding the man’s demise are unclear, and authorities have not disclosed any information pertaining to potential causes or circumstances leading to his presence in the water.
