Accident – Death – Obituary News :
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office has provided additional information regarding the tragic stabbing incident that took place on Wednesday morning along Interstate 80.
The victims have been identified as Gary and Mary Weaver, a married couple from Eureka, Missouri, who were traveling through Nebraska in their mobile home at the time of the attack.
The suspect, 22-year-old James Thompson, Jr. from Ohio, is currently in custody at the Hall County Jail. He stands accused of attempting to rob the Weavers at the westbound rest area near Grand Island around 7 a.m.
Thompson faces multiple charges, including felony murder, attempted murder, first-degree assault, robbery, and two counts of using a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He is also charged with attempted theft by unlawful taking, fleeing in a vehicle to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving, stop sign violation, and failure to signal.
Mary Weaver is currently in critical condition at Grand Island Regional Hospital, receiving medical treatment for her injuries.
The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and authorities have ordered an autopsy to be conducted on the male victim.
