Accident – Death – Obituary News : A grieving family is demanding answers from law enforcement after the tragic death of their loved one at a jail in Los Angeles County.

The deceased man, identified as 43-year-old Eugene Youngblood, was arrested by Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies on June 5 for a minor misdemeanor and was taken to the Lancaster Jail. The family’s attorney, Brad Gage, revealed that Youngblood was supposed to receive a citation and then be released as he had committed a low-level offense, such as possession of small quantities of drugs.

However, just four hours after his arrest, Youngblood was discovered unresponsive in his jail cell. Gage expressed frustration at the lack of information provided by LASD regarding the circumstances leading to Youngblood’s death. The attorney emphasized that the authorities have not shared any security footage, bodycam recordings, or investigative documents with him, leaving the family in the dark.

Gage accused LASD of neglecting Youngblood’s well-being and failing to address his medical needs, ultimately resulting in his untimely death without any explanation. In response, Gage has filed a Governmental Claim Notice, indicating a potential lawsuit in the future.

During a press conference, Youngblood’s sister Gina expressed her belief that LASD deviated from standard procedures from the time of her brother’s arrest to his passing. The family is determined to seek justice and hold accountable those responsible for Youngblood’s tragic demise.

The family’s quest for answers and justice was echoed by Youngblood’s nieces and other relatives at the press conference. They described Youngblood as a loving and supportive family member who deserves to have the truth revealed about his passing.

KTLA reached out to the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department for a response, to which they promised to reply “soon.”

The family is pleading for transparency and accountability in the investigation into Youngblood’s death, emphasizing their desire for closure and justice for a man they say embodied love in all aspects of his life..
