A woman in Summerfield was shocked to discover a stranger in her living room playing with her dog in the early hours of the morning. The incident took place on Sunset Harbor Road and the intruder was identified as 27-year-old Dustin Michael Williams from Weirsdale, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon hearing a loud noise coming from the back door of her home, the woman investigated and found Williams interacting with her pet. Fearing for her safety, she quickly retreated to her bedroom and hid in a closet, while contacting emergency services.
Williams proceeded to follow the woman to her bedroom and attempted to reassure her by saying, “It’s OK, you can come out now.” However, her screams and demands for him to leave went unheeded. The situation escalated until a deputy arrived on the scene, prompting Williams to seek refuge in a nearby bathroom.
It was later revealed that the woman was acquainted with Williams, who claimed to be at “Grandma’s house” when questioned by law enforcement. Despite this, he was arrested on a charge of trespassing and taken into custody at the Marion County Jail. His bond was set at £1,000.
This unsettling incident serves as a reminder of the importance of home security and vigilance, even in familiar surroundings. Residents are advised to keep doors and windows locked, and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities immediately.
