A devastating incident occurred in the rural Sailor Springs area of Louisville, claiming the life of a 12-year-old boy named Caide Weidner. The young boy tragically lost his life as a result of injuries sustained in a side-by-side accident on Friday night.
According to State Police reports, Caide was ejected from the side-by-side vehicle while travelling along Bucktown Lane, located three miles east of Sailor Springs. He was immediately rushed to Clay County Hospital in Flora before being airlifted by a medical helicopter to Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Despite the best efforts of medical professionals, Caide sadly passed away late Sunday afternoon.
Funeral arrangements have been made for Caide, with services scheduled to take place at the Red Brush Christian Church in rural Louisville on Saturday morning. Visitation hours have been set for Friday evening from four to eight pm, as well as Saturday morning from nine until the commencement of the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Caide’s honour to the North Clay FFA chapter.
Caide’s obituary paints a picture of a vibrant young boy who had a passion for farming, operating equipment, hunting, fishing, playing video games, boating, and bringing joy to those around him.
During the tragic incident, the Clay City Fire Department, County Sheriff’s Department, and Clay County Rescue teams all provided assistance at the scene, highlighting the community’s unity and support during challenging times.
