Hyderabad: In a heart-wrenching tragedy, a 47-year-old father lost his life while trying to save his daughter from drowning in a reservoir in Karimnagar district on Monday.
The victim’s family had gone for a leisure outing to Lower Manair Dam when the unfortunate incident occurred. The daughter, attempting to capture a selfie, accidentally slipped into the water. Without a second thought, the father leaped into the reservoir to rescue his daughter. Despite successfully saving her, he tragically succumbed to the waters and drowned.
Eyewitnesses recounted the chaotic scene as both the father and his son bravely plunged into the water to rescue the girl. Amidst the panic, the mother’s cries for help echoed across the dam. A courageous fisherman, alerted by the distress calls, swiftly responded and managed to pull the girl and the boy to safety, but was unable to save the father.
The deceased was identified as Bonala Vijay Kumar, a resident of Ramanagar in Karimnagar town, aged 47.
Authorities have issued a stern warning to the public, urging them to adhere to safety precautions and exercise caution when visiting water bodies to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
