Expressing her disbelief, Jackson questioned the motives of the perpetrator, asking, “How could somebody leave someone lying there? It’s not something you expect to see anywhere.”
Following an investigation by the Houston Police Department, it was determined that foul play was involved in the tragic incident. The body was identified as that of Jocelyn Nungaray by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Jocelyn’s grandmother, in an emotional plea to the public, stated, “We really want justice for her. We are asking for everyone’s help,” describing Jocelyn as “an incredibly kind and loving girl.”
Houston Police Lt. Stephen Hope revealed in a press conference that Jocelyn’s death occurred after she snuck out of her home at a nearby apartment complex late in the evening on Sunday, June 16. Reports indicate that Jocelyn was talking to her 13-year-old boyfriend at a convenience store when he overheard her conversing with two unidentified men.
The city of Houston’s official website has identified two persons of interest, described only as two males wearing baseball-style caps, in connection with the case.
