A devastating motorcycle crash in Campton, New Hampshire, on Saturday afternoon resulted in the tragic death of a 41-year-old man from Round Lake, New York.

The incident occurred at approximately 4:41 p.m. on June 15, when State Troopers from the Troop F barracks responded to a crash on Interstate 93 southbound in Campton. Upon arrival, they discovered three injured motorcyclists and three motorcycles laying on their sides.

According to a preliminary investigation, a sudden gust of wind caused one of the motorcyclists to lose control and crash. In an attempt to avoid a collision with the fallen rider, two other motorcyclists took evasive actions and laid down their bikes.

The injured motorcyclists were promptly transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. The operator of the initial motorcycle involved in the crash suffered severe injuries and was taken to Concord Hospital, while a second motorcyclist with minor injuries was transported to Speare Hospital.

Tragically, Anthony Caton, the third motorcyclist from New York, was initially taken to Speare Hospital and later airlifted to Dartmouth Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Assistance in managing the aftermath of the crash was provided by members of Troop D, the Campton Police Department, Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue, Waterville Valley Fire Department, and Plymouth Fire-Rescue. The scene was cleared within three hours on Saturday.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact Trooper Jacob Thomas at (603) 369-2393 or via email at Jacob.M.Thomas@DOS.NH.GOV.
