A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday night in Farmington Hills, resulting in the death of a motorcyclist following a collision with a Ford Explorer, as confirmed by the Farmington Hills Police Department.

The victim, a 32-year-old man hailing from Redford Township, succumbed to his injuries at Corewell Hospital Farmington Hills after the crash. It was noted that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The collision took place around 10 p.m. at the intersection of Eight Mile Road and Grand River Avenue. The driver of the Ford Explorer, a 21-year-old resident of Novi, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. He has been released pending further investigation.

This unfortunate incident marks the fourth fatal motorcycle crash reported in Oakland County in recent weeks. The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office has provided details on the other incidents:

On June 14, a 60-year-old motorcyclist from Orion Township lost his life in a collision with a car in Brandon Township. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, while his 12-year-old grandson, who was a passenger, survived due to wearing a helmet.

On May 16, a 57-year-old man from Saginaw was fatally injured in a collision with a car in Commerce Township. He was also not wearing a helmet.

On May 1, a 66-year-old man from Orion Township lost his life in a motorcycle crash in Oxford Township. While it remains unclear if he was wearing a helmet, family members have stated that he typically wore one while riding.
