Authorities responded to a chaotic scene at the Bethel Midtown Village on Friday afternoon where a large fight broke out, resulting in one person being shot and another being pistol-whipped. The incident occurred around 1:49 p.m. when officers arrived at the complex to find over 20 individuals engaged in a violent altercation around one of the buildings and in the parking lot.
Arrests Made and Warrants Issued
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers discovered a female victim with head injuries sustained from being struck multiple times with a pistol. Additionally, 27-year-old Tysean Deante was found at the scene with a gunshot wound. An arrest was made at the scene, with warrants issued for another suspect who had fled before the authorities arrived.
Suspects identified and Charges Filed
Police identified Tysean Deante as the individual responsible for pistol-whipping the female victim. He has been charged with aggravated assault, battery, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Deante was taken to the hospital for treatment before being booked into the county jail.
The person who shot Deante was identified as 28-year-old Byron Smith, who fled the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. Warrants have been issued for his arrest on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
