(AP) — Authorities in Massachusetts have made an arrest in connection with the tragic shooting death of a 15-year-old girl, just hours before she was set to attend her middle school graduation. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Trevor Bady, has been charged with murder, armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm, and other related offenses.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, Bady entered a plea of not guilty to all charges. His court-appointed attorney declined to provide any further comments on the case. The victim, Ahliana Dickey, from Lowell, was discovered inside her home with gunshot wounds, prompting her grandmother to contact the authorities.
According to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan, Bady had been romantically involved with Dickey for some time prior to the incident. The tragic events unfolded on the night of June 14, when police received a distressing call reporting a domestic dispute between a male and a female, followed by gunshots.
Despite responding to the scene, law enforcement officers were unable to locate any individuals. However, footage obtained from the area showed Dickey crying out for help shortly before midnight, with Bady seen leaving her residence after the altercation. It was revealed that Bady had used an Uber to travel to and from Dickey’s home, with the driver later confirming his identity.
