A Tewksbury resident has been arrested and charged in connection with the tragic shooting of a young teenage girl from Lowell, according to a recent announcement by Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Trevor Bady, stands accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Ahliana Dickey inside her own residence. Dickey, who was set to attend her eighth-grade graduation ceremony, was reported missing by her family when she failed to appear at the event. Concerned for her well-being, family members began a search for her and eventually discovered her lifeless body in their Lawrence Street home.
Upon arriving at the scene, Lowell Police found Dickey lying on the floor in a first-floor bedroom, with visible gunshot wounds and several shell casings nearby. Investigations revealed that the victim had been in an abusive relationship with Bady, who had a history of physically assaulting and threatening her.
Earlier on the fateful day, a disturbance was reported on Lawrence Street involving a male and female engaged in a heated argument. Witnesses heard the young girl pleading for the man to leave her alone, followed by gunshots. Despite police responding to the call, the individuals involved had already left the scene. Surveillance footage captured the victim screaming and Bady exiting her residence shortly after midnight.
Further evidence indicated that Bady had used an Uber ride to and from the victim’s home before and after the crime. The concerned driver reported Bady’s suspicious behaviour to authorities, leading to his apprehension at his Peabody residence on Monday.
Bady now faces multiple charges, including murder, armed home invasion, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition without authorization, using a firearm during the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building. He is scheduled to appear in Lowell District Court for arraignment on Tuesday.
