Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Authorities in Ocala, Florida, have reported that a second individual has tragically passed away as a result of injuries sustained in a multi-vehicle accident caused by a woman accused of driving under the influence. The incident took place last week and has left the community in mourning.

The Ocala Police Department responded to the scene of the crash at the intersection of North Pine Ave. and NW 20th St. at around 7:45 p.m. last Wednesday. The collision involved a Honda Civic, a Toyota Scion, and a Chevrolet Spark.

According to investigators, the driver of the Chevrolet, identified as 44-year-old Tiara Kirkland, was traveling southbound on N. Pine Ave. when she attempted to make a left turn onto NW 20th Street. Tragically, her maneuver put her directly in the path of the Honda and Toyota, both of which were heading northbound on Pine Ave.

The Honda managed to avoid the collision, but the Toyota struck Kirkland’s vehicle almost head-on before flipping multiple times and ultimately colliding with three other cars in a nearby used car lot.

Upon arrival at the scene, authorities found the Scion perched on top of one of the parked cars, its rear end suspended in the air.

Tragically, a passenger in the Scion, identified as Ethan Reeves, was ejected from the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the crash site. The driver, 28-year-old Kedrick Johnson, sustained critical, life-threatening injuries and was rushed to the hospital.

Both the driver of the Honda and Kirkland declined medical attention at the scene. However, officers noted signs of impairment in Kirkland, including slurred speech, bloodshot eyes, and the smell of alcohol on her breath.

Kirkland failed several field sobriety tests and provided breath samples showing blood-alcohol content levels of .191 and .186. Subsequently, she was arrested on a charge of DUI manslaughter and taken into custody at the Marion County Jail.

Sadly, on Sunday, Kedrick Johnson also passed away from his injuries, leading to an additional charge of DUI manslaughter for Kirkland. She remains incarcerated without bond.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, with authorities looking into the potential role of speed in the collision. The community is reeling from the loss of two lives in this preventable tragedy.

Stay tuned for further updates as the investigation unfolds.
