Reckless Riding Incidents
On the afternoon of June 6th, 2024, a vigilant deputy on patrol at the Eagle Sports Complex spotted two young men on electric bikes that matched the descriptions provided in the previous complaints. When the deputies attempted to intercept the riders, they quickly dispersed in different directions.
One of the riders was seen by another deputy riding dangerously on the shoulder of N. Horseshoe Bend Rd. The deputy tried to pull the rider over, but instead of complying, the rider brazenly gestured at the deputy and sped off, reaching speeds well above the legal limits.
Arrest and Charges
After a brief pursuit, the deputy managed to apprehend the rider, who turned out to be a 15-year-old juvenile without a valid driver’s license. The young offender was arrested and taken to the Ada County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of felony fleeing and eluding. The seized electric bike, a Talaria Sting MX3 capable of reaching speeds of up to 65mph, was found to be unregistered for road use.
Meanwhile, as other deputies engaged with the first rider, drone operators from the Ada County Sheriff’s Office launched an aerial drone in an attempt to locate the second rider. This rider was spotted riding recklessly through the Dry Creek Cemetery, disrespecting approximately 100 graves in a bid to evade capture. Deputies decided to halt the pursuit to avoid further endangering the public.
Identification and Legal Proceedings
The second rider was later identified as another 15-year-old juvenile male. Charges against him have been forwarded to the Ada County Juvenile Prosecutor’s Office for further review and action.
