Accident – Death – Obituary News :
The Ontario Provincial Police crime unit is currently conducting an investigation into a death that occurred on June 15 within the Whitesand First Nation community. The incident was reported to the authorities shortly after 9 p.m. on that day, with the initial call indicating that an individual was in medical distress on the First Nation.
Unfortunately, despite the efforts made, the individual in question was pronounced deceased. The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Stacey Shapwaykeesic of Whitesand First Nation. In order to determine the cause of death, a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place at the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto later this week.
Comprehensive Investigation Underway
The investigation into this tragic incident is being led by the OPP North West Region crime unit, the regional support team, and OPP Forensic Identification Services. These units are working under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation branch, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
At this stage, investigators have stated that they do not believe there is a threat to public safety in relation to this particular case. However, they are urging anyone who may have information regarding this incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
