A devastating incident occurred in Barangay Alitaya, Mangaldan, Pangasinan, where a 25-year-old man named Serafica de Leon was fatally stabbed by his own father. The victim succumbed to multiple stab wounds and tragically passed away upon arrival at the hospital.
Adding to the tragedy, the father is currently in critical condition due to a head injury inflicted by a rock during the altercation. The police investigation revealed that both father and son were intoxicated with alcohol at the time, exacerbating the situation.
Chief of Mangaldan Police Station, PLTCOL. Roldan Cabatan, expressed their insights on the matter, stating, “Perhaps the exacerbating factor in this case was the influence of alcohol on the father and son, escalating what could have been a minor disagreement into a fatal outcome.”
Merlita de Leon, the grieving mother of the victim, expressed her intention to seek justice for her son’s untimely death. She bravely declared, “For what reason? I will seek justice because he killed his own child.”
The Philippine National Police (PNP) is diligently conducting an investigation into the tragic incident. Chief Cabatan mentioned, “We are actively seeking additional witnesses to fully understand the sequence of events that led to this unfortunate outcome.”
