The tragedy struck in Barangay San Agustin, San Miguel, Bulacan as the lifeless body of a young boy who had been reported missing for several days was discovered in a river on Saturday, June 15.
The boy, identified as 10-year-old Rodney de Leon from Barangay Tigpalas, San Miguel, was found in the waters of Sitio Apalit, Brgy Tigpalas. Initial reports revealed that Rodney was swimming with two other friends around 2:00 p.m. on June 13 when the unfortunate incident occurred.
According to the investigation, the trio found themselves in a perilous situation in the deep part of the river, leading to Rodney’s tragic drowning. Shockingly, one of his companions hesitated to alert the victim’s family immediately, choosing instead to share the distressing news on social media.
It wasn’t until 8:13 a.m. on Saturday that residents spotted a lifeless body floating in the San Agustin River, caught on a hanging bamboo. The grieving relatives of Rodney de Leon were able to confirm his identity, bringing closure to the heart-wrenching search for the missing boy.
