The lifeless body of a young boy who had been reported missing for several days was discovered in a river in Barangay San Agustin, San Miguel, Bulacan on Saturday, June 15.
According to a report received by Lt. Col. Jacquiline Puapo, the Bulacan police director, the boy has been identified as Rodney de Leon, aged 10, from Barangay Tigpalas in San Miguel.
Initial findings from the investigation revealed that the tragic incident occurred while the victim and two of his young friends were swimming in the river at Sitio Apalit, Barangay Tigpalas around 2:00 p.m. on June 13.
Unfortunately, the three children found themselves in distress in the deeper part of the river, leading to De Leon submerging and disappearing from sight.
It was later disclosed that due to fear, one of De Leon’s companions hesitated to inform the victim’s family promptly about the drowning incident. Instead, the news of Rodney’s disappearance was shared on social media.
On Saturday morning at approximately 8:13 a.m., local residents spotted a lifeless body floating in the river, which had become entangled in a hanging bamboo along the San Agustin River. Subsequently, the family of the missing boy was able to positively identify the recovered body as that of Rodney de Leon.
