Accident – Death – Obituary News :

A mother in Mesa, Arizona is facing serious charges after allegedly leaving her 4-year-old daughter in a hot car while she went shopping at a local store during extreme heat on Saturday.

According to court documents, two witnesses spotted the young girl locked inside the car with the windows rolled up and the engine turned off at a shopping center near Stapley Drive and Southern Avenue in Mesa at around 7:45 p.m. Concerned for the child’s safety, they immediately contacted the authorities for assistance.

Upon arrival, police found the mother, identified as Nicole Dawn Yazzie, exiting a store and unlocking the car to retrieve her daughter. An officer observed the girl inside the vehicle, sweating profusely and exhibiting signs of distress. She was promptly taken out of the car and given medical attention.

Reports indicate that the child appeared disoriented, pale, and had reportedly urinated on herself. She was dressed in a short-sleeved shirt and long cotton pants despite the scorching 110-degree temperature outside. Police measurements revealed that the interior of the car reached a staggering 129 degrees.

Yazzie allegedly confessed to intentionally leaving her daughter in the car because she did not want her to accompany her into the store. She also admitted to not starting the car as a precaution against the child driving away. She acknowledged the wrongdoing of her actions, as outlined in court documents.

As a result of her actions, Yazzie has been charged with child abuse and her bond has been set at $15,000. The child, fortunately, received immediate medical attention and was placed in an air-conditioned police vehicle for safety.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of leaving children unattended in vehicles, especially during extreme weather conditions. It is essential for parents and caregivers to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children at all times.
