Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Chennai witnessed a heartbreaking incident on Monday evening when a 20-year-old college student lost his life in a tragic accident. The victim, identified as Kavin Sidharth, was a third-year BBA student at a local college in the city. The incident occurred when Kavin, along with his friends, decided to visit a railway yard near VOC Nagar in Tondiarpet to capture some moments for social media.

According to reports, the group had initially celebrated a friend’s birthday at the beach before heading to a swimming pool in Tondiarpet. After spending some time there, they moved to the railway yard to shoot videos and reels. It was during this time that Kavin climbed atop a goods train to take pictures of his friends and the surroundings.

Tragedy struck when Kavin attempted to take a selfie and accidentally came in contact with an overhead high-tension wire. The impact of the electric shock threw him off the train, leaving him severely injured. His friends, in a state of panic, sought help from nearby workers to rush Kavin to a nearby hospital.

Despite their efforts, Kavin was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. The Government Railway Police (Korukkupet) have registered a case in connection with the incident and have moved the victim’s body to a government hospital for post-mortem examination. Further investigations are currently underway to determine the exact circumstances that led to this tragic accident.

This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with risky behavior for the sake of social media validation. It is essential for individuals, especially the youth, to prioritize their safety and well-being over seeking thrill or attention on social platforms.

It is worth noting that earlier this year, in January, another 20-year-old student named Adharsh met with a similar fate when he was electrocuted while attempting to cross railway tracks atop a goods train at Thiruvottiyur railway station. Adarsh, who hailed from Yegavalliamman Koil Street, was preparing for the NEET examination at a coaching centre in T Nagar.

Such incidents highlight the need for increased awareness and caution, especially among the younger generation, to avoid putting themselves at risk for the sake of capturing the perfect social media moment. Let us all take this tragic incident as a lesson to prioritize safety and responsible behavior in all our endeavors.
