In a devastating turn of events, the Pueblo County Coroner has officially identified the victim of a recent swimming accident at Lake Pueblo. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 15, when 40-year-old Juan Jimenez tragically lost his life in the waters of the popular recreational spot.
The coroner’s office confirmed on Tuesday, June 18, that Jimenez’s death was deemed accidental, shedding light on the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
Reports indicate that Jimenez was reported missing on June 15 in the vicinity of Sailboard Beach at Lake Pueblo. Witnesses to the incident raised the alarm, prompting a swift response from Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) rangers and Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office divers.
Following an extensive search effort that spanned several hours, Jimenez’s body was eventually located approximately 75 feet from the shore, around 11 p.m. that fateful evening.
Tragically, Jimenez’s untimely passing marks the 17th water-related fatality in Colorado for the year 2024, as per CPW’s unofficial estimations.
