Four Arrested for Burglary in Palo Alto Home Invasion

(KRON) — Two young adults and two juveniles were taken into custody on Saturday night for their alleged involvement in a break-in at a residence in Palo Alto, according to the Palo Alto Police Department. The homeowner was out of the country when the incident occurred and was alerted by her home security system.

The targeted property is situated on the 2300 block of Byron Street. The homeowner received a notification of multiple intruders entering her premises just before 9:30 p.m.

Upon arrival, law enforcement officers witnessed three suspects fleeing from the scene, scaling fences in an attempt to evade capture. However, all three individuals were apprehended and arrested.

The Palo Alto Police Department spotted a Chevrolet Tahoe in the vicinity of the residence and discovered a fourth suspect hiding beneath a floorboard. The vehicle, which bore an incorrect license plate, was impounded for further examination as evidence.

An investigation by the authorities revealed that the suspects gained entry to the property by shattering a glass door on a second-floor balcony. Subsequently, they proceeded to rummage through the upstairs bedrooms, collecting the victims’ personal belongings in bags.

During the arrest, one of the suspects was found in possession of two high-value watches and a diamond ring concealed in his sock. It is suspected that these items were stolen either from the Byron Street address or from another location.

The individuals taken into custody informed the police that they were visiting the United States from Chile. Among them, 18-year-old Jorge Pacheco and 23-year-old Christian Cerveracolan were identified as the adult suspects. They were charged with felony burglary and conspiracy, as well as misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest. Additionally, three of the suspects, excluding Cerveracolan, faced an additional misdemeanor charge of possession of burglary tools.

Authorities have urged anyone with information pertaining to the incident to contact the Palo Alto Police Department at (650) 329-2413.
