Investigation Ongoing into Death of Man Found in Needville Ditch

Authorities in Fort Bend County, Texas are currently conducting an investigation into the death of a man whose body was discovered by construction workers in a ditch in Needville last week. The Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office has identified the deceased as 61-year-old Enrique Godinez.

According to reports, Godinez had been reported missing by his family to the Rosenberg Police Department on May 28, after he had been unaccounted for since May 19.

Sheriff Eric Fagan expressed his condolences to the Godinez family, stating, “Our sympathies are with the Godinez family. We are working diligently to piece together what happened at the scene.”

The incident took place on June 11 at approximately 1:13 p.m. in the 6900 block of FM 361 near Pine Meadow Lane in Needville. Upon arrival, deputies noticed debris from a car and a broken bicycle near the scene.

The body of the deceased has been transported to the Fort Bend County Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.

Additionally, investigators revealed that a Lamar CISD police officer had reported an accident in the same area on May 24. Subsequently, an FBCSO deputy engaged with the driver of a stalled vehicle at the scene, who is now considered a person of interest in Godinez’s case.

An inquiry into the accident in connection with the death of Godinez is currently underway.
