Christin Hale and Adam Hollon found themselves in a worrying situation on the afternoon of June 15 when they noticed a Chevrolet Tahoe following them closely. The vehicle began flashing what appeared to be blue lights, resembling those of a police car.
Hollon recounted the incident to News Center 7’s Taylor Robertson, stating, “We were getting on the highway and this guy almost rear-ended us. I knew something wasn’t right. That’s when I decided to keep driving.”
Their suspicions were confirmed when the Tahoe was later pulled over in Springboro. The driver, identified as 52-year-old Dennis Meade from Middletown, was arrested on a charge of impersonating a police officer or private police officer. Meade was held in the Montgomery County Jail on the same charge.
Hale described the Tahoe’s actions on state Route 741 in Miamisburg, saying, “He was acting like a cop, turning on his lights and tailing us.” Hollon, who was in the car with Hale and their two young children, mentioned that the driver attempted to ram their vehicle multiple times as they travelled on I-75. Hollon quickly dialed 9-1-1 and exited the interstate to ensure their safety.
After stopping Meade, a Springboro police officer discovered a loaded gun tucked in his waistband and ammunition in his pocket. Hollon expressed his shock, saying, “He had all the equipment – the cop car wheels, spotlight, PA system, radios, sirens. It was all there.”
