“We subdued him,” residents cheered in a video released Tuesday.

The video depicts community members in Flushing, Queens restraining the alleged child rapist who assaulted two teenagers last week. The suspected attacker, now in police custody, has been identified as 25-year-old Christian Inga from Queens.

Inga was recognised thanks to wanted posters displayed throughout the area. Community members who resided in the same Queens migrant shelter as Inga identified him and alerted the police, as reported by the New York Post.

“When they spotted him on the street, they attempted to detain him. They contacted 911,” explained police at a press conference on Tuesday.

“He resisted and the community still managed to restrain him,” stated Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

It is believed that residents may have used a belt to restrain the man.

The attack occurred last Thursday around 3:30 p.m. in Kissena Park, near Colden Street and Kalmia Avenue in Flushing.
