Residents were shocked on Thursday, June 13, at around 3:05 p.m. when authorities received a call about an individual who had entered the waters of Lake MacBride near the spillway into the Coralville Reservoir but failed to resurface.
Emergency response teams from various agencies swiftly mobilized to the scene and initiated an extensive search operation in the water.
Tragically, at approximately 4:19 p.m., the lifeless body of a 34-year-old man named Cesar Garcia-Pelico from Cedar Rapids was recovered from the depths of the lake.
