Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has officially declared two deaths as homicides after months of thorough investigation.

Media Drive Incident

On the 23rd of January 2024, IMPD officers responded to a call at a local hospital regarding a battered individual. Upon arrival, they found an adult male with injuries consistent with physical trauma. The incident was traced back to the 4900 block of Media Drive. Subsequent investigation led to the identification of the alleged perpetrator as 53-year-old William Spann Jr. With the assistance of IMPD Special Weapons and Tactics, Spann Jr. was apprehended without any complications at his residence.

Tragically, on the 31st of March 2024, the victim succumbed to his injuries while under medical care. The Marion County Coroner’s Office conducted an examination on the 14th of June 2024, determining the cause of death to be a homicide. The identity of the deceased will be disclosed once proper notifications have been made to the family. Spann Jr. was initially taken into custody for domestic battery resulting in serious bodily harm. The case has now been transferred to homicide detectives in collaboration with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for further legal proceedings. Spann Jr. remains in police custody.

Dogie Road Tragedy

Responding to a distress call on the 14th of June 2024, IMPD officers arrived at the 3500 block of Dogie Road to find an adult male suffering from stab wounds. The victim was promptly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Law enforcement officials took into custody a person of interest at the scene, later identified as 59-year-old Timothy Lisby.

IMPD homicide and aggravated assault detectives, along with the Indianapolis-Marion County Forensic Services Agency, initiated a comprehensive investigation. Following interviews and evidence collection, Lisby was arrested in connection with the incident. Tragically, the victim passed away on the 15th of June 2024 while receiving medical treatment. The Marion County Coroner’s Office is currently conducting an assessment to ascertain the precise cause and manner of death. The identity of the deceased will be revealed after notifying the family.

Lisby was initially detained for aggravated battery and is now under the jurisdiction of homicide detectives who are collaborating with the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office to determine the appropriate charges. Lisby remains in police custody pending further legal action.
