The Lancaster County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the heartbreaking news that a 19-year-old individual tragically passed away on Saturday while swimming in the Susquehanna River in Martic Township.
Upon receiving reports, investigators from the coroner’s office swiftly arrived at the scene at 7:24 p.m. to coordinate with local law enforcement and rescue teams who had located the young adult man in the river.
The deceased has been identified as William QuiQui, a 19-year-old resident of Lancaster. According to reports, QuiQui had been swimming with friends when he failed to resurface. Tragically, despite the efforts of those present, he was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m.
At this stage, there are no indications of any suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident. However, in order to determine the exact cause of death, an autopsy has been scheduled by the coroner’s office.
This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers associated with swimming in open bodies of water, and the importance of exercising caution and adhering to safety guidelines at all times.
