Vancouver Police have initiated an investigation into a fatal incident in the heart of the Downtown Eastside.
At approximately 1 p.m. on June 12, law enforcement officers were alerted to a man in distress near the intersection of Gore Avenue and East Pender Street, located within the vibrant Chinatown district. Initial findings suggest that the individual had sustained fatal injuries following an altercation that occurred a short distance away, at the junction of East Hastings and Dunlevy Street.
The deceased has been identified as William James Coffin, aged 40.
Following swift investigative work, two individuals believed to be connected to the crime were apprehended on the same day in East Vancouver. Although the suspects were initially taken into custody, they have since been released pending further inquiries.
