ALPINE COUNTY – The recent plane crash in Alpine County that resulted in the tragic loss of lives has been identified as a devastating incident involving cousins.

The ill-fated aircraft departed from Lodi with the intention of landing at the South Lake Tahoe Airport. However, the flight met a tragic end when it crashed in the mountainous terrain, located 10 miles south of the airport.

The pilot, Sam Jones, and his passenger, Nannete Singer, were both fatally injured in the crash. It has been revealed that they were cousins and had a deep family connection to the vintage pre-World War II plane that had been passed down through generations.

Nannete Singer, aged 80, was a retired teacher and an active volunteer at the Lodi Police Department. Her daughter, Gabrielle Singer, fondly remembers her mother as someone who always wore a smile on her face.

“I know she had no fear of getting on the plane,” expressed Gabriella Singer. “I’ve just been blessed with all of the outpouring of support from all of the people who clearly she touched which is a lot, but doesn’t surprise me.”

Gabrielle shared that her mother and uncle had plans to spend the upcoming weekend at a family timeshare in Lake Tahoe. She expressed gratitude towards the volunteers who were instrumental in locating the wreckage, providing some closure to the grieving family.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic crash, in hopes of preventing similar incidents in the future.
