LOS ANGELES, CA — Tragedy struck at Dockweiler State Beach in Los Angeles as a mother accidentally struck and killed her 2-year-old daughter with an RV she was moving on Saturday, as reported by KTLA.
The heartbreaking incident took place at 5:47 p.m. on the 12200 block of Vista del Mar, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The young victim, identified as Merida Castillo by the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, was struck by the RV while it was backing out of a private property.
Reports from KTLA indicate that the mother, who hails from Lancaster, was in the process of moving the vehicle when she heard a noise and tragically realized that she had struck her own child.
