maulvi Abdul Rahim Rathod : “Gujarat Man Arrested for Animal Sacrifice Post”

SURAT: In a recent development in Bharuch, a 54-year-old man known as Maulvi Abdul Rahim Rathod was apprehended on Sunday for disseminating a pamphlet titled ‘Method of Animal Sacrifice’ on social media. The arrest of Rathod took place just before the celebration of Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid.

Amod police station lodged a case against Rathod, charging him with inciting enmity between religious groups and offending religious sentiments under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act. Due to the sensitive nature of the case, the investigation was assigned to the Bharuch Special Operation Group (SOG).

According to law enforcement officials, the pamphlet shared by Rathod outlined the procedures for sacrificing animals like camels, buffaloes, and cows. The pamphlet also bore the name of a religious organization, Darul Uloom Barkat-E-Khwaja, based in Amod.

“The content of the pamphlet detailed the rituals involved in animal sacrifice, including the sacrificial offerings of cows, which was deemed offensive,” stated a police officer.

Following the circulation of the controversial post, Amod police and cybercrime authorities traced Rathod. During interrogation, Rathod admitted to sharing the pamphlet on social media with the assistance of accomplices. The police plan to summon these individuals for further questioning.

Authorities disclosed that Rathod has a prior criminal record, having been previously implicated in cases related to religious conversion and atrocities by the Bharuch police. A chargesheet had been filed against him in connection with the religious conversion incident.

Meanwhile, the Bharuch police have urged the public to refrain from disseminating content that may offend the religious sentiments of individuals belonging to any faith.
