Innocence Plea Entered in Real Estate Legal Matter
A former real estate agent hailing from Simi Valley has formally entered a plea of innocence to 13 felony charges of forgery, grand theft, and money laundering.
57-year-old Lane Yudell submitted the plea last week in response to charges brought against him by the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office after a comprehensive two-year investigation.
It is alleged that Yudell deceived a 60-year-old woman from Thousand Oaks who was under his employ, leading her to surrender her home’s possession and ownership. He purportedly embezzled the proceeds from the sale of her property and laundered the funds through multiple bank accounts, as per the DA’s office.
Additionally, Yudell stands accused of falsifying the signature of a property buyer in Port Hueneme, Thousand Oaks, and Long Beach. The buyer, a 78-year-old woman whose city of residence remains undisclosed, was allegedly a victim of Yudell’s deceit.
Prosecutors assert that Yudell committed these crimes over a span of 3 and a half years from February 2016 to August 2019 while holding a valid real estate license. However, these alleged transgressions only came to light in 2020, following the expiration of his license.
A conference for the next court proceeding has been scheduled for July 29, during which attorneys typically discuss the case’s scheduling and related matters.
Critical Condition for 79-Year-Old Port Hueneme Resident Following Road Accident
A 79-year-old resident of Port Hueneme is in critical condition after being involved in a collision on Saturday afternoon in Oxnard, according to police reports.

The driver of the Lexus, who sustained critical injuries in the crash around 3:30 p.m., was transported to Ventura County Medical Center. No update on their condition has been provided as of Sunday.
Two passengers in the Lexus, including a 19-month-old child, were also taken to VCMC and are in stable condition. Both occupants of the truck were transported to another local hospital with minor injuries.
